Hi, I'm working on a power app created with its data source as a Sharepoint list and want to create role based security for it. Without Azure, is it possible for me to have security groups where some users can only read, some can only edit their column that they have created on the Sharepoint list through Power apps and others who can edit anything. I'm also hoping that, they can only access the app through power apps and not the Sharepoint list directly.
Ok thank you! I also tried using power automate to have certain users to edit when the item is created. So I used 3 actions to do this, when an item is created, stop sharing an item, and grant access to certain users to edit. But this breaks permissions of all the users and no one else can read the created item. Is there a way to let others read it too.
Hi NK711,
You can try setting the permissions on the list permissions in Sharepoint list. Setting read-only access would allow the user to read the list and edit to edit the list.
Alternatively, if you are able to identify your user role in PowerApps, you can control what your user can do in the front end of the app by setting the properties of the inputs under the DisplayMode property to Edit or View
