Search Gallery via Text Input and combine GroupBy(Filter(StartsWith

Hi everyone,

I'm having a tough time combining formulas and would be grateful for some help please.

I am building a visitor register and the aim is that a returning visitor can simply search their previously entered details via their name or phone number, on a Gallery.

Once found, they select their details and go to an edit form, to update their info if necessary and select the name of the staff member whom they are meeting with.

Current formula on the Gallery is as per below screenshot (which is not working but hopefully explains better what I'm trying to achieve)

I have tried multiple combinations of GroupBy or Distinct, in combination with Filter and StartsWith and I either get error messages, no results or the Gallery's "Set(SelectedGuest.ThisItem)" makes the above mentioned EditForm throw error messages my way.

Could somebody help me please, so I can stop banging my head against the wall?

Thank you!!

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    A variety of things here- you need a third grouped column, but also your Form will not work with ThisItem (basically Gallery.Selected) as you do not have all fields - so Gallery Items - you do not have to use Data, but you need it

    GroupBy(
     Filter(
     'ContractorRegister',
     StartsWith(
     Title,
     ConSearch.Text
     ) Or
     Startswith(
     'Phone Number’,
     ConSearch.Text
     ),
     !IsBlank(ConSearch.Text)
     ),
     "Title",
     "Phone Number",
     "Data"
    )

    and your Form Item

    LookUp(
     'ContractorRegister',
     Title = GalleryName.Selected.Title
    )

    @WarrenBelz Thanks so much Warren!

    Is there a way to incorporate all other columns into the Gallery formula, so they are also available on the Form, rather than being "Not Recognised"?

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    Yes - as below (I have guessed the field names)

    AddColumns(
     GroupBy(
     Filter(
     'ContractorRegister',
     StartsWith(
     Title,
     ConSearch.Text
     ) Or
     Startswith(
     'Phone Number’,
     ConSearch.Text
     ),
     !IsBlank(ConSearch.Text)
     ),
     "Title",
     "Phone Number",
     "Data"
     ),
     "Company",
     First(Data).Company,
     "EmailAddress",
     First(Data).'Email Address',
     "Host",
     First(Data).Host
    )

    The issue is that GroupBy only returns the grouped columns and the rest of the fields in a Table in the last item (I called Data)

    @WarrenBelz Thanks again!

    One more question (I hope) - I'm now unable to patch a pen input field (for the visitors signature), which is showing the below error.

    Is there a way around this please?

    @Anonymous ,

    Signature needs to be an Image type field in SharePoint.
