Creating Relationship Between Tables with Existing Data and Model Driven App

I am working on a project that takes existing data from several db tables, merges that information together and then using a model driven app allow users to view the data.  I am using an on prem connector and dataflows to bring the data into dataverse.  One of the data sources is a list of items my company sells and then another data source is a list of warehouses those items are located in.  So the first data source each line is unique in that the item name is only ever used once.  The second data source there will be multiple records for each item name as it will be stored in different warehouses.  So I need to create a 1:many relationship from the item table to the warehouse table.  Which seems straightforward reading the kb.  Where I am struggling is then how to create the necessary relationship using Dataflows.  So much of the documentation is around users entering data and when they create the new record manually add the relationship in form.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I wanna clarify something , Have you already created the dataverse tables structure and then you move the data using data flows?

Thats correct, I created the tables and fields and then use dataflows to populate the data in the tables.

@ppibeauty so I believe your issue is setting the lookup fields through the data flow?

Hello @ppibeauty, If you have already created both tables then just make sure your relationship is set between them before you start importing the data. Follow the instructions below:

    1. In the Parent Table, the One side of the relationship, Create an Alternate Key for the Line unique item name Column.
    2. Create a 1:N relationship between the two tables.
    3. The relationship will create a Lookup column in your Child table (The many table).
    4. Make sure that you Load the Parent Table first.
    5. When loading the Child table, you will see the Lookup column in the mapping page but it will have the relationship name. (This means that your relationship will work perfectly with your new data)

I have this tutorial to show how you can accomplish this but I am using Excel as the data source. Nonetheless, all the steps are applicable on any other data source.
