Reassigning records to a new user / business unit

I am importing a bunch of records as a one off via a Power Automate flow reading an Excel sheet. I have 4 different business units in my model driven app, and these imported records will need to be assigned to 2 of the units, which one depends on the value of my "Department" column e.g. a record with Department value Unit A needs to be assigned to business unit Unit A. The units are there so that only users of that unit can edit those records (although users of the other business units can view them).

How do I go about assigning those records to users of that business unit? In the flow? After they're imported manually?

Hi @katk and welcome!!

If you want to programatically re-assign them, and it depends on how your security / ownership is setup, you need to change the Owner or Owner Team or Owner BU which are fields on the Tables.

These fields will be LookUps to the team/user etc you want to own it.

As long as you have permission and the flow is running as someone with the permission to make those changes it can be done there.

Also, are you sure you are using BU assignments (meaning aka Teams) or individuals owning records?

Thank you for clarifying, I've been able to reassign the records now. I am assigning them to a user and setting that user within the specified Business Unit.
