I have created form through canvas powerapp for a list. Now, I want to use this canvas app for entering new item in the list(not by 'customized form' option).

Besides, how can canvas app be used to do following things:

  -View Item.

  -Edit Item.

Please help to solve this problem.

If you are a first time PowerApps user I would suggest watching this video as an introduction to building forms. It will do a much better job of answering your general questions than could be explained on the forum

Shane Young Forms Video on YouTube.

I would also recommend to look for videos by Todd Baginski and Audrie Gordon as well. They also do a wonderful job of explaining key concepts in PowerApps.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to create a standalone canvas app based on your SP List rather than custom form in your SP List using "Customize forms" option?

Based on the needs that you mentioned, I think you could consider generate an app based on SP List data source, then it would auto-generate an app with three screens - BrowseScreen, DetailScreen and EditScreen.

More details about generating an app based on SP List, please refer to the following article or video:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/app-from-sharepoint

After that, you could use above generated app to Create Item, View Item and Edit Item in your SP List.

Basically, the problem is when '+New' is clicked to add the new item in SP list ,I want to link my standalone canvas app so that form created in canvas app opens.

When 'customize with powerapps' is used , I can't reuse the same form for another list.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

Do you want to launch your standalone canvas app via the "+New" button in your SP List?

If you want to launch your standalone canvas app via the "+New" button in your SP List, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

In addition, the created canvas app could not be resued for multiple SP Lists at same time.

If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please consider submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

As an alternative solution, I think the "Customize Forms" option within SP List could achieve your needs. On your side, you could consider custom a form in your SP list using PowerApps via pressing "Customize Forms" option, then when you click "+New" button, it would launch your custom form to enter data.

Note: Currently, the "+New" button in SP List could only be integrated with Custom form functionality rather than standalone canvas app in PowerApps.

Please refer to the following article to custom a form in your SP List using PowerApps:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/customize-list-form

By using Canvas app, same app can be used for different list by exporting and  importing funtionality followed by changing datasources.

Problem with the customized form is I can't use the same form for another list, i.e. customized form can't be migrated.

I want to make a reusable form which can be used for multiple lists.
