Drop down not updating

Hello,

I have attached below two screen shots. My setup is that I have two SharePoint lists. One where data is being input (Feedback) and another (Feedback Types) which is used to populate a dropdown list. With my current setup I keep getting the error "incompatible text values".

Not really sure where to start with this one and have Googles a fair amount to see if I could fix it... 😞

All help greatly appreciated!

What type of column is "FeedbackType"?  If it is not a text column, you will not be able to assign the text result of your dropdown to it.

Just checked that - is still text. I did originally set it as a dropdown but have changed since.

So to be clear...your SharePoint column that you are trying to store the value from your DropDown is a Text column.  If that is the case, then your formula should work.

However, you mention that you changed the field type, most likely from a Choice column to a Text?  If that is the case, then you need to refresh that information in your App.  You will definitely need to refresh the datasource, if this is in a Form, then you will most likely need to remove the DataCard and add it back.  You might have to go as far as removing the DataSource and adding it back in.

PowerApp is a bit temperamental about changing column types once you have added the datasource.

Recreated the whole thing from scratch and it works now 😛

Yes, like I said, PowerApps gets temperamental about datasource changes like that.  You have to really pull things apart and go back sometimes to get that to "take".

    Glad you got somewhere now.
