Quick Create Form Issue – Help

Hi everyone,

I'm facing an unusual issue with a Quick Create form in Power Platform, and I’d really appreciate some help or insights.

Scenario:

I have a lookup field on the form that is supposed to auto-populate based on a view — it fetches the related record based on the current context using a view.

Issue:

When the Quick Create form opens, the lookup field does not populate.

However, when I click on Cancel or the "X" (close) icon:

  • The form does not actually close.

  • Instead, it seems to refresh or re-render, the screen brightens up a bit, and only then the lookup field gets populated

  • This behavior is very strange, and I haven’t found any similar issues documented

In the attached screenshot the project field which is locked will autopopulate usually but after the latest depolyment to the UAT, on clicking the X button/Cancel is only populating the field rather than closing the form.

    •

    Additional Info:

There is JavaScript used on the form to conditionally hide/show the lookup field based on the entity.

    • This setup is working perfectly fine in the Development environment.

    • The issue only appears in the UAT/Data environment.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior or have any idea what could be causing it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance!

When you disable the script, the problem is still there.
Could it be any dependencies caused ? like relationship, lookup, etc.
If possible, try to create a similar form ( simulate the table relationship) in another dev env.

Quick Create Form Issue – Help

    Hi @stampcoin
Yes, Clicking X and cancel does the same thing - Doesn't close the form instead fetches the values and the screen behind brightens up.

When you tested it, have you tried in Dev tool on browser ? any errors you could capture ?
When I try to open console, screen becomes responsive which inturn refreshes the form and values are fetched

In your script, do you have any to check Onload event ?
Yes, I have kept the script in the onload event to hide the fields based on the entity. So basically its a quick create form of a table which i have linked with 3 other tables using lookup and based on the entity the qcf is called i have made some fields to hide which the users cannot interact with.

Have you tried to deploy in a different env ?
Yes. Works as required in DEV Env but issue arises in Data/UAT

Have you tried disable the script to see if any difference ?
Yes, I removed it from the event but still the issue persists
