Getting User Info

Hey Everyone,

I've created several bots that use a personal touch to get users names. I previously achieved this by setting the authentication to "Only for Teams". This generated some global variables. I've created a new bot (online web client, not PVA app within Teams) enabled only for teams, and I don't have these variables for use.
Even if I add an authentication action as part of the "Greeting" topic (which is be crazy as they are already within teams) it has an error in red down the bottom of the action saying, "There is an error: 'AuthenticationInputNotEnabled'" which only confuses me more.

I've noticed the Greeting topic is no longer part of the system topics, perhaps this has something to do with it?

I'd really like to get this solved as it's surprising how much use you get out of this feature.

    Hi @Bamwich ,

If you are using the new PVA canvas, the Greeting topic is still part of the system topics, activated by the Conversation Start topic.

For the Authentication bit, have you created any Power Automate flow to check the authentication?

    Also, check:

    Cheers,

I figured out what I was doing wrong.
Quite simply, I was looking in the wrong spot. When adding the Variable, to just need to switch tabs to "System" instead of "Custom". It seems whilst they are global variables, they are not classed as global variables, they are now System Variables. Seems to simple now when I look at it.
