Hi,
I have a Roll up field that calculates the number of entries in another related field, if it is greater than 0 the status for the parent table is to be active and if it is 0 then the parent record needs to be inactive. When the roll up system has ran it does not trigger the business rule unless I go into the form...is there a way to get the business rule to trigger when the roll up system job runs without the need to open up any records or forms. How can I fix or work around this without another automation?
Thanks
Hi @MichelleH
Is the business rule scope set to form or entity?
You may find the explanation provided in the following thread helpful:https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Dataverse/Business-Rule-Triggering/td-p/462814
Kind regards
Gulshan
it is set to entity which is why it seems strange, essentially a roll up is not just a calculation when the jobs has ran so then on change of any value I believe the business rule should trigger
Business rules only run in the context of the user so a user will need to see the record/form in order to trigger the business rule. If you need the automation to run "behind the scenes" then it needs to either be a calculated field, process or cloud flow.
