Notification message won't dismiss

I have used the notify function in a conditional clause to display a message when a required field in a form is missing. The message displays as expected however, the message won't dismiss until anywhere in the window is clicked. I have tried including the duration for dismissal in the notify function and tried the timer control, but both did not work.

Notify( Message [, NotificationType [ , Timeout ] ] )
Message – Required. Message to display to the user.
NotificationType – Optional. Type of the message to display from the table above. The default is NotificationType.Information.
Timeout – Optional. Number of milliseconds to wait before automatically dismissing the notification. The default is 10 seconds (or 10,000 milliseconds). The notification is displayed indefinitely with a Timeout of 0.
By default the TimeOut is 10 second, however you can minimize to 1 second also.
