I desperately need to access the queries that are contained within a few dataflows. They were written by a user who has left the organization. The dataflows are visible in the solution with the quit user as owner, but are not editable. The user is not searchable under Dataverse -> Dataflows -> All Dataflows thus I as environment administrator can't seem to change the ownership. I can also publish the dataflows in the solution but I have no idea what that means. Is there any way I can transfer the ownership of these dataflows to myself?
Hello @HeadBaker,
Can you open the dataflow in Power BI? You should be able to change the owner in Power BI.
Sorry, forgot to include this link: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/de-de/blog/announcing-power-bi-dataflows-general-availability/
If you scroll down to the section "Take over dataflow ownership", you can find details on how to change the owner.
Thanks for the reply!I'm not too familiar with Power BI, but willing to try. Is it even possible to browse dataflows that are 'stored' in a power apps solution? I know you can connect to a dataverse environment in Power BI desktop, but I can only see tables there, not flows?
I think you should be able to update the ownership by searching for the Data Flow on the Power Apps maker portal and using the option change owner, you need to have admin permissions over the actual environment of your dataflow
Hope this might help, cheers
In the original request, the user says that he cannot search by the owner in the "All Dataflows". That user no longer exists to search by. I have a similar problem in that the dataflow was published via a solution using an Application user, not a regular user. I don't know how to search for the Application user - or I'm using the wrong "name".
This is convoluted workaround that you can try and use. If you are a system administrator in the environment, you can create a solution and add the dataflows to the solution. Then deploy that solution to another environment. This will make you the owner of the deployed dataflows from that solution in the new environment.
Hi @HeadBaker ,
You are able to create a new solution and add the existing dataflows created by the user(who left organization) ?
Regards
Devi
Hi HeadBaker, Did you get any work around for that? I am also looking for an answer to find dataflow where owner set as app user
Go to All Dataflows even if you are the Owner, look up your account.Once your flows are listed , click on the one you want to re-assign, then, do change owner.
