How do I filter a dropdown list based on another drop down list selection?

Hi there,

Very new to Power Apps but looking for help with something I think is simple.

I have a gallery which is based on a data set in a SharePoint list. I used the Shane Young's video on filtering ((5) PowerApps filter gallery by dropdown - YouTube) in order to create 2 dropdown filters for my gallery (Region & Country - screenshot below). I created collections for both Region and Country as per Shane's video.

However, I now want to filter my second drop down (Country) so that I only get countries that are in the selected Region i.e. I don't want to see the full list of countries in my data set no matter what Region has been selected. For example below when I select APAC, you can still see EU countries appearing  in the country list but I want to only be able to select countries that are in APAC per my dataset.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @CT1989,

you can solve this by adding a field that matches the Region with the Country, for example:

Region APAC has the field country which is Netherlands. After this you can use the Filter function to filter by that field.

The field country is pulling in all the distinct country names from SharePoint list - I want to filter my country dropdown based on my region selection i.e. if a user chooses APAC they should only be able to select Vietnam, Singapore etc (all distinct countries in my list that are in the APAC region).

The country dropdown Item is from a collection - screenshots below. I think I need to put some sort of filter into the collection but not sure what or how it should be written.

Try with this. In the DropdownRegion change the name of your dropdown.

    Filter(collectVideoCountry,DropdownRegion.Selected.Region = Region)

Edit: i didn't see you use Distinct, if you can instead of using Distinct when you create the Collection, try to use the Distinct in the dropdown. Something like this:

    Collect(collectVideo,'List V2')
    Dropdown1:
    Distinct(collectVideo,Region)
    Dropdown 2:
    Distinct(Filter(prov,Dropdown1.Selected.Result = Region),Country)
