We started to see "Error retrieving CRM encryption key" in our plugin code on 9/14/2020 on multiple trial instances of PowerApps UCI. I created a supporting ticket and Microsoft is not responding well on this. We use CRM key to do some encryption and this basically bring the whole system down.
Anyone has similar issues?
Got response from Microsoft support today that updates has applied in 10/7 and we confirmed it fixed the CRM encryption key retrieval issue.
I opened a supporting ticket after we ran into this issue since 9/14 and many emails exchange have happened the issue has been escalated.
Starting yesterday, we found out the key retrieval is successful now and there are waves of update from 9/30 to 10/5. It seems the issues has been addressed by Microsoft although we haven't receive confirm from Microsoft support yet.
This is still a concern if we move to production. We depends on the CRM key to be functional and this close 3 weeks down time is unbearable.
Thanks for pointing out this article. I will take a close look and update what I find out. The strange thing is that it has been working fine for quite a long time for multiple instances since January.
From memory Data encryption keys were removed when the online Version 9 of Dynamics was released (I remember a very painful discussion with a large MS customer the week it was announced that we had to practice first).
