I’ve been using Ribbon Workbench to customize standard buttons in Dynamics 365, primarily to hide buttons like Activate and Deactivate since they are not customizable otherwise. Recently, I encountered an issue where the Create button for one of the entities is no longer visible. This issue went unnoticed for 2-3 deployments, and I’m struggling to identify the root cause. Here’s what I’ve investigated so far:
Ribbon Workbench Configuration:
When I check Ribbon Workbench, the Create button is still present in the configuration, and there’s no record of a "Hide" action being applied.
Permissions:
I have the System Administrator role, so permission issues shouldn’t be the cause.
Cross-Checking Other Entities:
Other entities in the system have two New buttons on their main grid command bar, each running separate functions. I was able to add a new Create button easily, but this doesn’t explain why the original button disappeared.
My product owner is concerned about how this could happen, and I agree—this raises questions about the reliability of the system. Unfortunately, I don’t have a clear answer for why the Create button disappeared, and I’m seeking guidance on how to prevent such issues in the future.
Additionally, I’ve faced another issue while working with Ribbon Workbench:
I had hidden the Export to Excel button for some entities, but later it was required again. When I tried to unhide it:
In the development environment, the button reappeared as expected.
However, in the Test Sandbox environment, the button did not reappear for two entities. I had to manually copy and recreate the button to make it visible.
This inconsistency between environments is concerning, and I’m unsure why the button didn’t reappear after being unhidden. Has anyone else faced similar issues with Ribbon Workbench? Any insights or suggestions on how to resolve these problems would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
its the dynamics 365 community where it is the perfect fit,
cheers
