As an experimental project that grew into a product, Power Apps was born without error handling. Error situations would return Blank (Null), but that is a problem when you have databases that store Null as a valid value. Power Fx needed to separate errors from Nulls.

And today we are very close to finishing the Experimental and entering Preview. While experimental Error Handling has been turned off by default, but entering Preview means it will be turned on by default for new apps, while not impacting existing apps.
