Hi, We are trying to create a Dataverse virtual table on top of Azure Synapse Analytics Dedicated SQL Pool. The table is created successfully. However, we are getting error when we try to update or insert record in Dataverse(via direct edit as well as edit in excel). It is working fine with Azure SQL DB. Please find attached Screenshot for Excel Error and dataverse error. Has anybody faced this issue?
I get the same issue when trying to connect a Virtual Table to a MS Fabric Lakehouse table. I can connect and view the data, but the moment I try any kind of edit or insert the update dies with a BadGateway APIM issue.
Is it dedicated server pool or serverless mode, I see online that serverless doesn't support insert/update
Hi Shashankbhide, Thanks for the suggestion, can you provide the online link that describes serverless being unsupported?I am using MS Fabric DataLake with a SQL endpoint provided by Fabric to the Data Warehouse. Looking at the doco for Fabric, it would seem to suggest that Fabric is running serverless for SQL endpoint connections => Workload management - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn and this could be the issue as you suggest. This definitely gives me another avenue to investigate, Thanks.
Sorry, I thought I posted the URL. Tho, haven't completely matched head to head with your scenario
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/synapse-analytics/sql/overview-features
I have found more information. For a MS Fabric Lakehouse and associated Warehouse, the SQL Analytics Endpoint is Read-Only => sql-analytics-endpoint-read-only-mode
But a Data Warehouse created in MS Fabric (independent of a Lakehouse) should allow full CRUD operations => compare-the-warehouse-and-the-sql-analytics-endpoint-of-the-lakehouse
I tried creating a separate Data Warehouse in MS Fabric, I could insert rows to the Data Warehouse from Azure Data Studio, but when I connected a Power Apps Virtual Table to the Data Warehouse table, I get the same error as @sribhashini.
So it would appear there may be a problem with the Virtual Table connector to a MS Fabric Data Warehouse, as it should allow writing.
