Using Launch to open directly to highlighted text

Hi Falks,

I have been trying a few different ways to word this and search forums, but also a few different ways of trying to get it to work.

Short version, I'm fine with being able to launch a URL using the launch command, thats not my query.

I'm trying to get a behaviour where if the URL includes a "copy link to highlight" from chrome or edge, that the Launch function will open the link and scroll to the highlighted text as intended.

eg

website.com loads just fine, but if I make it

website.com#:~:text=specific%20part%20of%20page then it just loads to the top of website.com instead of the highlighted text. Copying and pasting the same text into a new tab will take me to the highlight, which suggests to me that it is something in how the launch command works.

I get this was initially a chrome feature, but edge being based on chromium and power platform being Microsoft, I was hoping it would just work.

Has anyone been successfully able to work around this?

    Hi @cjbaguley

One possible workaround is to use the HTML Text control to embed a clickable link that includes the #:~:text= fragment. This approach leverages the native behavior of the browser when clicking on a link, which should include the full fragment and perform the highlighting as expected.

    1. Add an HTML Text Control:
Add an HTML Text control to your PowerApps canvas.
    2. Set the HTML Content:
In the HTML Text property, set the content to include an anchor (<a>) tag with the full URL that includes the #:~:text= fragment.

    Ex :

    "<a href='https://website.com#:~:text=specific%20part%20of%20page' target='_blank' style='color:blue; text-decoration:none;'>Click to Open Highlighted Text</a>"

    Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion @Rajkumar_404, I tried this and unfortunately still the same effect, just loads to the top of the linked page.

Looks like we're just going to have to settle for this as a solution and guide the end user to the topic they are looking for within the page for now.
