Cannot Find the Phrases Trigger

Hi, I just started the copilot studio training lvl 2 agents in action. For the petco example, the video shows that the topics usually default to a "phrases" trigger where you can add a list of words/phrases. However, my copilot studio defaults to "the agent chooses" and I cannot find where the phrases trigger is in the triggers options menu. does it no longer exist?

Hi there!

Trigger phrases are not required since your are using "The agent chosses" as trigger for this trigger you only need to describe the scenario when the agent should use that topic.

If you want to trigger your topic the "old way" you need to turn off the orchestration in configuration and then you will be able to trigger the flow using trigger phrases.

Technically, “The Agent Chooses” and “User Says a Phrase” are the same. You can confirm this in the code editor, where the kind property is shown as OnRecognizedIntent.

“The Agent Chooses” → Available when Generative AI orchestration is enabled

“User Says a Phrase” → Available when Classic orchestration is enabled

If you want to use a phrase-based topic:

Go to Agent → Settings

Set “Use generative AI orchestration for your agent’s responses?” to No (refer to the screenshot)

Then go to Agent → Topics → Add a topic → From blank

You will see the “User Says a Phrase” option
