"Agent Needs Your Permission" Prompt on Teams Mobile for Generative AI Topics

Hi Microsoft Team,

We’re using a custom Copilot Studio agent inside Microsoft Teams. It generally works fine, but we’re experiencing an issue specifically on the mobile Teams app.

When a user starts a conversation with the agent and triggers a topic that includes a Generative AI node, they see this notification:

The agent doesn’t respond until the user manually accepts the prompt. However, if the user triggers a topic that does not use a generative AI node, the conversation works normally and no such prompt appears — even on mobile.

We’d like to understand:

  1. Why does this permission prompt appear only when generative AI nodes are used?

  2. Is there a way to prevent this notification from appearing on mobile, so the experience is seamless like on desktop?

  3. Is this expected behavior due to how generative capabilities are handled in mobile Teams clients?

  4. Are there any specific settings or permissions we need to configure to suppress or pre-authorize this interaction?

We want users to be able to interact with all types of topics — including generative ones — without being interrupted by this prompt, especially on mobile.

Thanks in advance for your support and guidance!

Are you referring to use "Create Generative Answers"???

What data sources did you add? Without seeing it for sure, my assumption here is you configured knowledge sources in CGA Node. So its requiring the person to provide authorization to access those.

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!

    Hi @Michael E. Gernaey,

Thank you for the response and yes you are right, we are configuring our knowledge source in CGA node inside our main topic. However, we have connected azure open ai that utilizes the azure ai search service and not any sharepoint site or such that might create a permission or auth issue.

Let me repro this as you still need to auth to the other side via the node. So configuring it does not guarantee its just "authed" for the user.

Can we do this, let me look this over again and if I have enough information I want to setup just what you have so I can tell you what happens to me.

If you want to just share what you have configured all up (we only need the one Topic) we dont need everything, just the one that is doing this, so I can try to repro it. I still believe its due to the fact that the person still needs to authorize it.

oh btw, does it happen constantly or after its authed 1 time it stops prompting:? at least in that session?

Yeah, it happens continuously. Like whenever the user session on teams mobile app expires, it ask the user permission again. The biggest concern is why this doesn't happen in teams desktop application?

Anyways, we resolved the issue by setting up 'manual auth' instead of the default 'authenticate with microsoft entra ID' and for persistent auth we used SSO. It worked. Still this inconsistent behavior between web and mobile app needs to be studied by the Microsoft.
