SubmitForm Issue

Hi

Totally new to pawer apps.

I have a button with SubmitForm(Form1); RestForm(Form1); Navigate(Screen4) for some unknown reason it is no longer submitting to the data source (Excel) giving me a pink banner with An unknown error occurred in it.

Starting with deleting the button and creating it again - Red circle and cross disappears but as soon as you playit and submit, the unknown error returns and back to square one,

Cut out the above string and pasted it back in, retyped the string all the same issue.
I have also worked backwards with the data source as I added some new columns. Took those out refreshed but no joy.

Unless anyone has an idea as to what is causing this, I'd be eternally grateful, as I'm at the last step in my mind which is to start again from fresh.

Datasource is Excel - When it does go live it will be very rare at any time that any more than one person at a time will be using it.
During build this I am the only person who is working on this, so no one else is accessing the data source.

Appreciate your help in advance.

Neil

You should never chain any other commands with SubmitForm().  The rest of the commands should be in the OnSuccess property of the form.  That way they won't execute unless the form is successfully submitted.

I took out the other commands leaving just SubmitForm(Form1) on it's own.... still no joy

It sounds like your table is corrupted.  Excel is a very peculiar data source.  If you have changed the names of your columns or rearranged them after it was imported or used column types other than text, number or data/time, it can be a problem. I suggest deleting your data source and going back to Excel and copying your data without the additional column placed by PowerApps into a new table.  Make sure your columns are as above and without spaces or special characters.  Make sure the first row has data in every column.  Then reimport the table again.  Once you have done that go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtmZM3tm2Zs  and watch this 10 minute video.

This is what I thought / feared, appreciate your advice, thank you.

I will try it tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

@Drrickryp  Yep you were correct - I redid the data source and it's all working like a charm.

I watched the video, and I appreciate the reference to it, but I'm still using excel as this will not be a heavily used app perhaps once or twice a day. Plus I need to look at the other data sources to see how the work.

I think the lesson from this, especially with Excel, is plan out your data source thoroughly and get ALL your columns in place before you start.

    Thanks again!
