Trouble getting access to properties from controls from containers for items inside a gallery

Hello, everyone! Hope you're having a nice week!

I'm struggling to get access to the value of some labels inside an horizontal container for the first item in a gallery. I thought it could help matters if I did, per this topic, a formula that goes by the following syntax:

First(<GalleryName>.AllItems).<CollectionName>.<LabelName>.Text

But that doesn't work in the slightest since the autocomplete only shows me a ContentLanguage property for the collection and nothing else.

I've asked Bing Chat about this, and it ultimately told me this might be a glitch, though I doubt about that.

Is there anything I can do about this? I hope I don't have to ditch the container just to get access to the properties of the controls for each item in the gallery.

Thanks in advance for reading and helping.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

One way to find out if it the container is to make a copy of the gallery (copy and paste) outside the contained and then use the code referring to that one - I suspect it will work.

I don't even suspect it's going to work. I know it's going to work.

But I really hope I don't have to do that, because I need that container to simplify the simulated spreadsheet-like view for the screen I have developed, as it lets me show and hide columns in a rather simpler way that makes the columns dynamically adjust their size depending on which are made visible or not.

That's why I need to know if there's a way to achieve this.

    Thanks in advance for understanding.

Alright, people. I have found a temporary workaround for now.

Instead of doing this respective call for the control I need to get access to from the first gallery item, I'm simply getting the first instance of the label with just its name, like this:

    Assert(<LabelName>.Text = <ExpectedValue>)

It works fine for the first iteration of this label, but I want to figure out how to achieve it with the rest of the iterations in the future.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

I do not use Containers for this and a number of other reasons, so unfortunately I am the not the right person to troubleshoot this for you.

No problem at all! Your help is super appreciated, regardless! 🙂
