Question about licensing

Hi,

I have a question which confuse me. We have an app in our environment which using SQL Server connector, which was moved from Standard to Premium Oct 1st.. We have information that our tenant is grandfathered and thought this connector would still work.

This specific app is created March 2020.

The owner (creator) of the app has a Plan 2 license which make him able to use Premium connectors, and the app is shared with some other user which only has Powerapps for Office 365 license and normally only can use standard connectors.  The app is only working for the owner at the moment, and not the other as they don´t have the license for premium connectors.

But as it is grandfathered, shouldn´t it work to use the app for the users with only Powerapps for O365 license during this period as well? Or is it only for existing apps created prior Oct 1st, 2019 ?

According to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/powerapps-flow-licensing-faq#how-does-the-change-to-power-apps-and-power-automate-use-rights-for-office-365-applications-affect-me-if-i-purchased-the-subscriptions-prior-to-oct-1st-2019-will-my-existing-power-apps-applications-and-power-automate-workflows-continue-to-work

There is a text saying: "During the transition period customers can continue to create additional apps and flows using these connectors."

But appearantly this is not the case. Which is the correct info?

    Hi,

Any apps created prior to the licensing changes in Oct 2019 should have grandfathering in affect until Oct 2024. If you create an app after that date it should go until Oct 2020 or the end of the subscription you had in place that provided the SQL connector prior to the change, whichever is longer. If your user's are getting a prompt to start a trial then we would need to have a ticket opened to look at the account. If they are getting a different error message or no error at all then you should also create a ticket to have this looked into. I'll include a link below; on creating a ticket.

If you would like to create a ticket with Microsoft Customer Support here is a link on how to do so: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/get-help-support

    Regards,

    Alex
