Read data from excel attachments into dataverse table(s)

Dear All,

I am working on a project, but I did not find any hints whether it is doable or how difficult to solve the following problem. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

One partner of mine would like to collect data from excel attachments of e-mails arriving regularly from their partners into a given e-mail address. The content of excel files are not lists, they are tables in a given cell intervalls.

Also, it is requiered to attach other data of the e-mail to the records which were imported into the database (eg.: e-mail and name of sender, date of e-mail arrival...)

In order to give a little more detail, monthly and quarterly reports are collected from partners. Monthly and quarterly reports are sent in different time intervalls. Because of monthly and quarterly reports contain different data, they should be stored in different tables. We also would like to collect data whether partners have sent a given riport or not, and when they completed the reporting.

Is it possible to read these excel data from an e-mail attachment into dataverse tables using some kind of automatized flow? Or should I search for other direction?

If it was doable, could you also help what kind of licenses will my partner require?

Thx a lot in advance!

David

    Hi @FreierD ,

Based on your requirements here you should only need appropriate Microsoft 365 licensing to do this because you have no premium connectors as part of the needs.  If the volume is high then you might need to purchase a Power Automate license for the user but doesn't sound like it based on your business use case.

The following article used the approach I would go down to accomplish your needs...

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Power-Automate/Flow-to-read-the-content-of-an-email-attachment/td-p/601976

and another good article with sample of the flow:

    Thanks
