SQL Views not showing in list

I hope there is a quick answer to this.

I have made 2 Views in my Azure SQL, but they dont show up in the data list (only the tables).

According to vids and documentation I have found, they should appear in the list.

I have tried refresh, restart the app and all that.

Thanx

Is your SQL connector using your account to connect to the database or a service account?  If it is a service account did you make sure to give that user access to the Views you created?

    Its a service account.

It has access to all tables, but I could not find any way to give access on a view, so I guessed it inherit from the table. I will start look for access control on the view, but please advise how to give access. I use Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio.

And thanks for quick feedback on the issue. 🙂

    Hi @TurboTape

Do you try to remove the connection and then add it again?

If there is exactly the view in the data source, could you please try to search it by input the view's name to test?

Hi @v-yuxima-msft I tried to remove and add the connection with the same result.

I tried a search for the view and add it manually, but it will not find it.

As @Pstork1 suggested I should check the permissions. I have granted permission to create view (the only view permission I found), but still nothing. It feels like a permission thing, but have a hard time to find out how.

Yes @v-yuxima-msft . I finally figure out how to give access to my service account to show the views.

    All good 🙂

Thank you for not telling us how you fixed it! Super helpful

    Hi JonShubin.

I smelled some irony coming my way 😀

Sorry about that. Long time since this case and I guess I was happy figure it out. If I remember correctly it had to do with giving access to the view to the user I used in the Powerapps connector.

I was logged in with my personal account when creating the view, but had a powerApp user that is used on the connector. I had to give access to this user for all tables and views to get them to show in data list in papps.

Grant insert, select, update on <table or view> to <role or user>

Please let me know if you want me not to tell you how to fix other things 😋

    Best regards

How to enable SQL View in Access 2019

Microsoft  has eliminated the Sql View option in  the design Query. But I found a way to enable it

Go to Options. Then click on Customize Ribbon. You will not find the Sql option in the Popular Commmands. You need to open All Commands, then go down till.

    Clipboard01.jpg

After having added your custom group you can add the Sql view to it.

Then go back to the query design view. You shoul see now the Sql vew option.

    Hope you it helps you.

Utilize the "Use", - EX: "Use project_name" at the start of your query page. Then after creating your View, refresh the Object Explorer
