Office 365 Profile Information - get user department

Hi all,

I am building a Power App on which I would need the user department to filter the views accordingly.

I am using the Office 365 Users connection and I can successfully get the Display Name, Given Name, Telephone Number, etc. of the current user. But I can't get the user Department...

For testing I am using a text box with the following Text formula:

I have seen a previous post which was suggesting that an Azure AD needs set up. I have check with our systems team and we do have that set up. The Department column is populated in both Office 365 Admin Centre as well as on Azure side.

On the app side though I do not get any erros, it just doesn't show anything when I'm asking for the department.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

MelindaK

    Hi MelindaK,

In my App, I had a connection to Office 365 Users, and I inserted a Text box and set its Text property to show information about current user, for example: Office365Users.MyProfile().DisplayName, it worked well and user DisplayName was shown. When I set its Text property to show user Department, I got the same issue with you, no error message and no user Department information was shown. And I also tried to show information about another user, I can also get information about DisplayName, ID, etc. but I can’t get Department information.

As for your Department column was populated in both Office 365 Admin Center as well as on Azure AD, there was nothing wrong with your settings, please send a feedback to Microsoft. The feedback icon was shown as a smile face in your App.

I have just heard back from Mirosoft saying that is an outstanding bug with the Office365 user connector where it doesn't display a documented property.

If anyone has the same issue, I guess we just need to wait until they fix it.

I'll update the post if I have any further info :).

Just asked the Flow people about this. It is a limitation of the connector. The Microsoft Graph API supports filtering on department, but it is not exposed by the connector. They are currently working on a fix.
