connections when exporting/ importing Solutions

I've noticed that when I export a flow I created in my Development Sandbox environment using my connection ID, I then have to fix the connections after I import the flow into the company's Live environment.

In the Flow is gives the warning that I should be using connection references.  I haven't been able to figure out how to do this (so that I do not have to manually fix the connection after I import the flow into the Live environment).

how would I do this.  Thanks

Rtc

Take a look at this article on Connection references.  One of the key points is that they only work in Solutions.  It sounds like you are using non-solution aware flows.

thanks for the link.  It mentions that it is only available for “Solution-Aware” flows which rely on the solution framework provided by the Common Data Service - which I seem to recall is now called Dataverse (which is a premium connector).

have I understood it correctly? thanks

You can create a connection variable in the solution and use it in your connectors. This makes it easier to maintain your solution so you don't have to access each stream or application and perform the reference

That is correct up to a point.  The flow does need to be in a solution and be solution aware.  If you import the flow into the solution you need to remove the connections and replace them with connection references.  And the underlying system does require that a dataverse database be in the environment. But doing this in a solution doesn't require a Premium license even though it uses Dataverse infrastructure.  Its only when you create a Dataverse connection that premium comes in.

I've used Environmental Variables for the Site and List/Documnet Library successfully; as well, then created a Connection Reference when using those Env Variables in a Flow.  What I need to do is create a Connection Reference that I can using instead of my Connection ID.
