Using "Patch" to update SP List with modern controls?

I'm having problems using the Patch property on a "Modern Controls" button which I was hoping to update a Sharepoint List. If I use same process on the regular old style buttons, it does work. I was wondering if there was something I meant to be doing but missing? Here is a couple of screenshots as it will probably be able to explain it better than I could

Error I'm getting

Any ideas? I've only made a few very simple apps before so perhaps I'm just not experience enough and totally overlooked a simple fix.

    Hi @f2

With modern controls, you would retrieve the textbox contents via the Value property rather than the Text property (eg txtFirstname.Value).
That would explain the error messages that you're seeing here.

Timl, that worked! Amazing, thanks for the support, I really appreciated it. I’ve watched a few videos on Modern Controls and they said it might not be ready for production so thought there might be something missing.
