Return result from 1 List based on date selected

Hi all,

Apologies in advance as this is my first time posting in the forum and I'm new(ish) to the PowerPlatform.

I'm currently doing a project to remove reliability from an Access Database, and put all data into Lists, using PowerApp for the Form and PowerAutomate to run automated email notifications.

In the Access Database, I used to have a table called Tbl_Weeks which would list the Financial Week / Period / Year for a date range (i.e. Columns are StartDay, EndDay, Week, Period, FY).

Is it possible within PowerApps (or even using Flows or Lists itself), to use check the Created Date from 1 List to see which row it would be within the date ranges, and return that rows Week Number, Period Number and FY?

Apologies if it doesn't make sense, happy to try and draw out what im trying to research if needs be.

Thanks in advance for any advice / support.

Stuart 😊

    Hi Stuart,

    Yes it is possible to for PowerApps to check the Created Date (by default it is called 'Created' column) from Lists. Since you already have columns for Week Number, Period Number and FY then it is a simple filter or lookup function.

    Thank you @Adrian_Celis. Apologies if it is a repeat question for what you've seen in the past, I wasn't sure how to search for what I wanted to achieve ha-ha!

    I will have a read up on Filter / Lookup functions 🙂

    Hi Again,

    I've been playing but I still havent managed to work out how to achieve what I need.

    I have a list called Tbl_Weeks which contains columns;

    StartDay

    EndDay

    Week

    Period

    FY

    In my Complaints list, I have columns called RaisedWeek, RaisedPeriod, RaisedYear which used to populate in Access based on the column RaisedDate. The query in Access used to identify the row where the date would fall between the Start and End Dates, and return the Week / Period /Year.

    I know we're saying a simple Filter / Lookup function, but I dont seem to be getting my head around it haha!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated 😬

    Hi @randallst

    Let me get this straight: So if you have a complaint raised today, a record will go to the Complaints list and the RaisedDate column will contain today's date.

    You should use Patch to save the record to the Complaints list.

    So when you are going to create a record, you can say something like:

    Patch(Complaints,Defaults(Complaints),
    {
    Title:"Complaint Example",
    RaisedDate:Today(),
    RaisedWeek: LookUp(Tbl_Weeks,StartDay <= Today() And EndDay >= Today()).Week,
    RaisedPeriod: LookUp(Tbl_Weeks,StartDay <= Today() And EndDay >= Today()).Period,
    RaisedYear: LookUp(Tbl_Weeks,StartDay <= Today() And EndDay >= Today()).FY
    }
    )

    Im so sorry for the delayed response, and really appreciate your support.

    Annoyingly we've just been informed of a business restructure and our projects have just been axed, so unfortunately i wont be pursuing this further now 😞
