How to apply two PCF controls in the same entity?

Hello,

I was wondering if it's possible to apply or merge two different PCF's in one single entity. As an example, let's suppose I want to apply in the same entity view, nested grids PCF and color background for OptionSet fields.

I know both PCF's work wonderfully by themselves, but I need my entity to have both functions.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @KemaSoluciones ,

If I understand right, you would like to use the functionality of two dataset PCFs applied for a View (home grid).

You would need to make a new PCF, having both functionalities.

It is possible to register more PCFs for the entity view, and the user can switch between those two views using the ribbon button (out of the box), but you cannot have both PCFs in one (not without making a new one).

    Kind regards,

    Diana

    Thanks for your response!

Having to make a PCF with both functionalities was what I was afraid of. Can you recommend me any kind of documentation regarding the development of this type of PCF ? I'm new to this side of PowerApps but I'd like to give it a try.

    Many thanks,

    Jerry

    Hi @KemaSoluciones ,

Maybe the tutorials from the PCF docs: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/component-framework/tutorial-create-model-driven-app-dataset-component?WT.mc_id=BA-MVP-5004107

and both PCFs you try to include in yours.

    Hey Diana,

Do you know where I can find the source files of the Editable Grid PCF?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi @KemaSoluciones ,

You mean the code for the out of the box Editable Grid? No, I don't think it's available.

You could start with the FluentUI , like in the tutorial from the docs (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/developer/component-framework/tutorial-create-model-driven-app-dataset-component?WT.mc_id=BA-MVP-5004107), but there is no code example for saving data back to the dataverse.

Unfortunately the PCF sdk doesn't offer a way to save data from a dataset PCF. You would need to implement your own save logic, using the webAPI feature.
