After the new PVA was released, the typing indicator disappeared.
Am I the only one experiencing this?
I have the same issue. The typing indicator works very well with the classic teams but it is gone in new teams.
I (foolishly?) did the "Upgrade to Teams 2.0" switch while I was testing my local bot, and now, among other things, the typing indicator is not being displayed. Is this because I'm running in a developer sandbox, and that hasn't been updated with the fix described here for Teams?
@HenryJammes @MattJimison - Now can see typing indicator without any additional setting or configuration. Also now progress is shown until PVA get response back, previously typing indicator used to be dismiss within couple of seconds. This is great addition to PVA.
I believe the typing indicator behavior fix, to make it as it was in the classic version, is being rolled out and will hit the different regions over the following weeks.
@HenryJammes any updates on the internal bug report you referenced above?
I have also noticed typing activity doesn't show up as below.
1. if there is a send message activity after typing activity. I believe this is also not an expected behavior.
2. When using bot in teams channel

Thank you.
How can I set up this to enable typing indicator on Teams?
- Select 'Typing' as Type
and then..
I appreciate if you help.
You should be able to combine a Typing activity and a Delay activity (with a value in ms).
Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be working, the message that comes after the activities is directly processed.
I've opened a bug internally.
Hi @MattJimison
Thanks, this makes a lot of sense and I shared your feedback with the owning PM.
May I ask that you create a feature request for this here? https://aka.ms/PVAFeatureRequest
@HenryJammes do you know when that documentation for these new nodes will be expanded? It currently doesn't give a lot of detail, or any examples, on working with these nodes, which I think will help users.
Also, in Azure Bot Framework Composer with legacy bots you could make a bot-wide setting in the configuration JSON that caused the entire bot to show the typing animation during delays responding, which was very helpful when you had Power Automate calls that took a few seconds to complete.
With this new activity, the typing animation only appears for 2-3 seconds, and I haven't been able to increase that by setting the value in milliseconds, as some documentation suggests. Ultimately, I think a common use case is simply showing the typing animation whenever a call is made that is taking time to process, so that the user understands the bot is currently working on the request. That would be a setting I'd love to see back at the bot-level as it was in the last canvas, via Bot Framework Composer, but now in the new Unified Canvas, which would make it more accessible (similar to how App Insights can now be configured within PVA directly in the new canvas)
