Purpose:
Using topics as a way to guide generative AI to reference selected documents for faster and accurate responses.
Issue:
It seems the topics that I am using now are not able to recognize the selected knowledge sources anymore. This wasn't the case a few months ago, the recent updates to Copilot studio have somehow affected my pre-existing topics from recognizing any of our Sharepoint files within the system. Generative AI CAN recognize it if the topic is turned off, but when a topic is on toggled on, it suddenly cannot identify the documents.
Image 1:
You can see that the activity tab failed with the topic and started to utilize reasoning (which it got the info correct and referenced the correct document). You'll notice in the chat "no information was found that could help answer this question"
Image 2:
You can see the flow that failed is set up to reference only 1 piece of documentation only. It failed to recognize this document in the topic, BUT when it kicked into reasoning (from image 1) it located it and answered correctly. This means to me that the Generative Reasoning can find our Sharepointe documentation, just not when it's referenced via Topics for some reason. Although this is a good showcase of the agent's reasoning capabilities, using guided flows towards specific documents helped speed up response times and reduced hallucinations for more complex questions in the past (hence why I would like to try and fix this strange issue).
Important thing to note is that this system was working before and has only started glitching out like this recently without much intervention from me.
Update:
Tested on both GPT-5 and GPT-4.1 with the same results
