Good day,  Novice to power apps.  Would it be possible to provide an excel file and have an expert show me how to lay this out and add a few filters just to see how the backend works?

    The query itself not clear to me, what is your expectations?

    Do you want how filters needs to be created in the Power Apps?

    HI @Jaw1

    As already mentioned its very confusing what you are asking for.

    Let me try to explain a bit more

    You said: Would it be possible to provide an excel file and have an expert show me how to lay this out and add a few filters just to see how the backend works?

    Provide an Excel file How? Are you looking for it to be processed due to some automated process (like creation), or are you looking to just do a manual process.

    Think of it like this.
    Write up a walk0through, just in natural language of what you want it to do.

    I do not know what back end you are talking about

    We want to help, but only you can walk us through what you need ( don't walk us through how you tyhink you should build it) just the literal 1 by 1 steps
    and we can definitely help!

    Sorry my questions was not very clear.   Here's what i want the PowerApp to do:

    1. Bring Items in from a sharepoint list.
    2. Add a filter at the top to select certain options for a column.
    3. Provide user the abilility to add "comments" within the PowerApp that will write back to the sharepoint list.

    Attached is the file if this is helpful.

    Connect SharePoint List to Power App
    • Create a SharePoint List that mirrors the structure in your image:
    • Columns: Area, Office, Office ID, Name, Comments
    • In Power Apps:
      • Go to Data > Add data > SharePoint
      • Connect to your site and select your list (e.g., Novice)

    Add a Dropdown to Filter by Area

    Items : Distinct(Novice, Title)

    Add a Gallery to Display SharePoint Data

    Items property

    If(
      IsBlank(Dropdown1_1.Selected.Title),
      Novice,
      Filter(Novice, Title = Dropdown1_1.Selected.Title)
    )

    Hope this helps! UX part needs a lot of effort hope you can take it.

    Grateful for the reply.

    When attempting this step...

    Add a Dropdown to Filter by Area

    Items : Distinct(EmployeeLocations, Title)

    Receiving this error... again, a newbe here.  I'm sure to others your instructions were crystal clear.

    Items : Distinct(EmployeeLocations, Title)

    Distinct - To get the unique records

    EmployeeLocations - Datasource that is name of the sharepoint list or table.

    Title - Which column information we wanted.

    Hope you understand this mapping.

    With respect to the error, did u add the sharepoint list to the powerapps ( I mentioned in the post how to add the data) ?

    Everything is working as you outlined.

    Would you be able to help me with the 3rd request on the list?

    3. Provide user the abilility to add "comments" within the PowerApp that will write back to the sharepoint list.

    The goal is to provide a comment box in PowerApp that the user can enter a status update.  Then have the user hit save and the comment update the SharePoint list.

    In the same gallery, I added one Icon (Icon.Edit).

    On Select Property of the Icon

    Set(varselectedItem,ThisItem);
    EditForm(Form1);

    // In the same screen itself i have used the form control, if you are using the separate screen u need to use the navigate function as well.

    Edit Form Control - Add the respective fields accordingly.

    DataSource - ur sharepoint list  (in my case its novice)

    Item Property - varselectedItem

    // This is variable i am using it

    Save button
