CRM TraceLogBase not freeing space after deleting plug-in trace logs

Hello,

I'm new to CRM and the dataverse. We are getting notifications that we're out of database space. It appears that the largest table by far is TraceLog Base. In researching the issue I found multiple threads about disabling the plug-in trace logs then using a bulk delete to clean them out. I followed the steps and confirmed the plug-in trace logs had been removed. It's been over 20hrs since making the change but no space has been recovered and the table still shows it's the same size it was before I removed the logs. Is there another step I need to do to reclaim that space?

Thanks - Bill

That should be enough to clear out the logs. Note the reports dont refresh frequently so you may have to check after 24 hours

Okay, I'll give it another day and will post the result.

    Thanks - Bill

As per Ivan, may need to wait at least 24 hrs - see the note https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/free-storage-space#freeing-storage-for-dataverse

Above that note, you will also see that for some operations could also take up to 36 hrs

Well, it's been more than 4 days since I turned off and cleared the trace logs but it's still reporting that the TraceLogBase table is over 4GB. I've confirmed that "Enable logging to plug-in trace log " is set to off and there are no records listed when I click on "Plug-in trace logs" under the settings menu. I must be missing something.

Not sure how you deleted them - If not already done, run a Bulk Delete job to remove all entries from the Trace Log table.

If that's done, then Log a support ticket with Microsoft.

I did use a bulk delete. If I setup a bulk delete now using the following criteria and click on preview records, it returns 0 rows.

Is the same method you would use?

    Thanks for your help

I believe I found the issue. The table is the TraceLogBase table, not the PlugInTraceLogBase. I didn't realize they were two different things. When you google " CRM TraceLogBase growing large" the first hit walks you through the steps to clear out your plug-in trace logs, but that is not my issue. Once I figured that out, I setup a job to delete trace logs older than 3 months. The job has been running for a few hours and is at 1,231,750 items deleted and counting. I will let it do its thing and check in a day or two.

    Thanks again for the help.
