Set Auto number to an existing date verse table

Hello Power Users,

I have a data verse table with 100 items in it. Now I would like to add a column with type auto number to set unique id for all those existing items in the table. I tried adding and did not reflect on the existing records, shows blank value for all of them.

Can anyone please help me if this can be possible? If yes, can anyone please help me with best approach.

Hi @KrishR

The easiest approach I would think is to set your Autonumber at say "1100" and then go through the records that already exist, export to Excel with your new autonumber column, set the values of the records in the Excel file to 1000, 1001, 1002, etc. and reimport. This will set the value of those records and the next new one will utilize the 1100 value.
