Can a release pipeline get the source from Azure Artifact ?

Hello guys,

I'm trying to do a release for CE (Dataverse) solution from DevOps Release pipeline. Recently I've been questioning about how to connect the Agent Pool to get the file from Azure Artifact.

I once found some image in internet about Agent Pools in Release having that parameters ->

But unfortunately, cannot access the blog.

Anyway I tried to create new Release pipeline from my machine, but there is none like that picture ->

Do I need to create custom Agent Pools or something ? I actually not really understand why we need to create Agent Pools when we can use the standard Azure pipeline agent pool ?

Please help me to have a better understanding on this.

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

    Hey @Axal,

I'm late to the game here, but could you clarify if you were trying to get the source code within the release pipeline?

If so, you can actually clone a repo to the virtual disk in a release pipeline using the Git CLI. That is, you can simply at a PowerShell/command-line script task to the pipeline job and call `git clone` to pull down the repo.

Of course, you will need to provide the an access token in the request, etc. See the blog post from GitHub on Easier builds and deployments using Git over HTTPS and OAuth for details on how to get and use an access token to clone the repo.

    Hope this helped someone.

The reason you are not seeing the option to download an artifact in your 2nd screenshot is because you haven't specified an artifact to use as part of your release pipeline.

Once you've added an artifact in the Artifacts box of the release pipeline, the options for Artifact download should become visible for you to select:
