Populate an empty list

Hi,

I want to create a PowerApp to populate an empty SharePoint list (or Excel table). The list off course has headers (column titles).

However, I only find videos and sites that explain how to edit an existing list with an app.

My goal is to create a Purchase Order app that gathers info from the applicant.

For some fields I do have Lookup tables (e.g. Supplier, department). What I want is to create an app with empty boxes in order to generate a new order and not to edit existing ones.

Does any one have a recommended tutorial? Or is my understandig of PowerApps completely off?

Thanks!

Do you have the list created already? Go into PowerApps and create an app from SharePoint and PowerApps will create an app for you that allows you to create new items in the blank list and then edit them once you have them. I walk you through doing that in this video. Learn PowerApps

But Yes, you can do exactly what you want to do. Pro tip? Stay away from look up columns. They don't play nicely with SharePoint.

    Hi @Anonymous,

Do you want to create a PowerApps app to gather order info into your SP list (create new record in your SP list)?

Could you please share a bit more about your SP list?

If you want to create a PowerApps app to gather order info into your SP list, you could consider take a try to generate an app from your SharePoint list or create a blank app for your SP list (customize an app from scratch).

More details about generating an app from SP list, please check the following article:

Generate an app from SP list

If you want to customize an app for your SP list (customize an app from scratch), please check the following blog:

In addition, you could also take a try to see the following video to ahieve your needs:

    Best regards,

    Thank you Shanescows,

I do have a list created. I also found the way to create te app from that list, but was confused when it comes to new entries on the list versus editing existing ones. I did come across your video in my previous search for info. It is very helpful!

    Hi Kris,

    Thanks for your response.

Yes i want to created new records. My already created list has 'Description', 'Amout ex' 'VAT' 'Amount inc' 'Supplier' (connected to a second list, not yet filled), 'customer', (connected to third list) 'customer:id' (linked from that third list). 'branch', 'start date', 'end date'. (all are actually in Dutch).

I am looking in to creating an app and making that available to a select group within my company. When they complete a request, they should then receive a purchase order code/number from our crediting department. (By hand) I don't want them to be able to see other requests, so I am looking into creating a flow that moves a request to another list.

The problem i encounter now is when I create te app and try to test it, it doesn't show me an empty form, but a already filled out one (with a previous test result.)

    Regards,

    Wouter
