I am building an audit planning agent in Copilot Studio. I have a
topic that uses an Adaptive Card to collect user inputs (audit topic,
objective, dates, contacts), then passes those values into a
Generative Answer node via a Power Fx formula.
The Generative Answer node was previously generating excellent,
complete outputs (a professional scope memo email). However, it has
now started returning:
"No information was found that could help answer this."
What I have already tried:
- "Allow AI to use its own general knowledge" is ON
- "Web search" is OFF
- "Search only selected sources" is OFF
- Content moderation is set to LOW
- Variables are confirmed to contain values (tested with a debug
message node before the generative answer node)
- The agent instructions contain full context about the scope memo
template and format
The issue seems intermittent — sometimes it generates correctly,
other times it returns the "no information found" error with the
same inputs.
My questions:
1. Is there a known issue with the Generative Answer node
intermittently failing even when general knowledge is enabled
and no knowledge sources are selected?
2. Does the Generative Answer node depend on agent-level
instructions for context? If instructions are changed, can
that cause the node to fail?
3. Is there a more reliable alternative to the Generative Answer
node for generating structured text output from variables
inside a topic? (I tried the AI Builder Prompt action but had
issues with record vs string type mismatch.)
Environment:
- Copilot Studio (latest version, June 2026)
- Generative orchestration enabled
- Agent has knowledge sources (SharePoint), but they are disabled
on this specific node
