Ownership transfer to Co-Owner

I built an app as a co-Owner and owner of this app is someone else who left the organization, the issue is that when they request access it sends to owner not Co-Owner as a request email. How Co-Owners can get this functionality or after the Owner left the organization how Ownership can be transfer to Co-Owner directly?

Is there a way I can set up the app so that the co-owners, or a specific co-owner receives these request emails and can grant access?

Option 1: Change the App Owner (Admin Help Needed)

Currently, Power Apps does not allow Co-Owners to directly take ownership of an app when the original Owner leaves. However, you can transfer ownership with admin support:

✅ Steps to Transfer Ownership via Power Platform Admin

    1. Ask a Global Administrator or Power Platform Administrator in your organization to follow these steps:
    2. Go to Power Platform Admin Center:
    3. Select Environments > Open the environment where the app is stored.
    4. Click Resources > Select Power Apps.
    5. Find the app and click on it.
    6. Click Share, then Remove the old owner.
    7. Assign you (or another person) as the new Owner.

    🔹 Why is this needed?

    • Power Apps only sends access request emails to the Owner.
    • A Co-Owner cannot manage user requests—only an Owner can.

🔹 Option 2: Redirect Access Requests to Co-Owners (Workaround)

If changing ownership is not possible immediately, you can set up a Shared Mailbox or Power Automate Flow to notify Co-Owners of access requests.

✅ Steps to Create an Access Request Notification

    1. Create a Shared Mailbox (e.g., PowerAppsRequests@yourcompany.com).
    2. Ask your IT team to redirect access request emails from the old Owner to this mailbox.
    3. Alternatively, set up a Power Automate flow:
      • Trigger: When a new user requests access (from Office 365 email).
      • Action: Forward the request to Co-Owners.

    🔹 Why use this?

    • Co-Owners will receive access request notifications.
    • Helps manage requests without waiting for ownership transfer.

🔹 Option 3: Export & Reimport the App (Last Resort)

If ownership cannot be transferred, you can export the app and reimport it under your own account:

✅ Steps to Export & Reimport

    1. Open Power Apps.
    2. Go to the app in question.
    3. Click on More Options (•••) > Export package.
    4. Save the package and import it as a new app.
    5. Share it with users and set yourself as the Owner.

    🔹 Why use this?

    • You get full control over the app.
    • Old ownership issues no longer matter.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response!
I tried implementing 2nd option, below alternative solution
    1. Alternatively, set up a Power Automate flow:
      • Trigger: When a new user requests access (from Office 365 email).
      • Action: Forward the request to Co-Owners.
but I am not able to find Trigger: When a new user requests access (from Office 365 email).

also, the 3rd option is not feasible as this will impact existing user

and 1st & 2nd option will take time to implement it as we have dependency on Admin & IT Team

we should give this option to owner to make Co-Owner as owner or someone else before leaving the organization also if Owner left the organization, then Ownership should automatically transfer to Co-Owners
