Renaming Data Cards - Error: The requested rename failed unexpectedly.

Seems recently there is this error now when renaming data cards - value controls inside. I am using custom form in SharePoint List Integration customize form.
It is good practice and helpful to rename these to more meaningful names especially if they are going to be used in formulas.
When I look at the view display of my form, data disappears and turns into pipe looking lines???
I can hit save and publish and come back and everything is back to normal until I rename again, but this is time consuming.
It has a corrupted feel and I'm worried about my project when it is edited in the future. Microsoft has surely done something in their updates. This didn't ever give me issues before.
I am using Version 3.25041.10

**  Thank you all for the suggestions: to either unlock card or go to the edit control name in the properties panel or do a search and replace.  All of which have not solved the error. I still have a to wait a long time for anything to rename – screen just SPINS with no end, or I get the error msg. and the form view still goes blank until i do a publish - leave and go back in.  Clearly a ticket needs to be submitted. Ill have to figure out how to submit one. turns out I'm not an admin and all i get is a bot that isn't helpful!  :(  maybe someone else will submit a ticket and get somewhere.

In one post I see where a user with the same error said the metadata had become corrupted. If that is the case then Microsoft should fix it, not asking developers to rebuild. I’ve done several different lists, created custom form tests and all are bad and corrupted.

It doesn't appear you are renaming cards, but the Value controls inside.

Did you unlock it? I can definitely see that looks goofy as heck so apologies for your issues.

Saving and publishing forces the metadata to refresh do it makes sense that it resolves your issue.

I also understand wtf should you have to do that, but when we are talking about cards, there is more underlying connectivity to other bound metadata than other times.

I am getting the exact same errors/issues as here. This started for me on or around April 21 . It is a Customized List Power App on a SPO list and cards are unlocked.

I found out the issue is only on one screen as the other screen and its associated form has no issue. After more testing discovered that the field names do save but you have to go out and back into the App to see them. And finally discovered that the errors go away completely once you remove cards on the form to 17 or less. Once you have 18 or more the errors return. But 17 or less no errors at all. At least this is the case on my Power App form.

Try using Find and Replace rather than rename when trying to change names in datacards.

Interesting idea on find and replace.  I tried this.  No error however I got a blank screen after doing this (basically what is shown here).  The cards are there.  I just published, exit and then went back in and it showed everything again along with the changed field.  It is almost like this is having some impact on the display aspects of the form.  Another detailed thread on this topic (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msteams/forum/all/power-apps-for-teams-error-message-the-requested/c13164dc-3f90-4f7b-b0c1-744694e93e6c).  On person here submitted a ticket and was told the metadata was corrupted.  Had to review the entire view again.

I've been getting this error recently when renaming controls. But dispute the message it does actually seem to rename them.

I have also started seeing this issue in the past few days on certain forms. Renaming the data card seems to work but renaming any of its components (star, error, etc) causes the error and corrupts the form. The suggestions above about using search and replace does not work and the same corruption occurs.

I've been seeing this same error for the past few weeks, definitely a new bug in the Power Apps editor. Renaming within a form consistently shows "The requested rename failed unexpectedly. Please try again." The rename actually works but the form goes blank and you have to save and refresh the app to get back to editing. This is happening on new apps and old apps.
