I would like some guidance as to why it is not possible to select the Analyst agent (Analysis Tool) as a template when creating an agent within the Copilot M365 app. Currently, it is not possible to select Analysis Tool as a template when creating an agent (while other templates are available, such as Interview Question Assistant, Translator, Meeting Assistant, etc.).
Having this option would be extremely useful for creating custom agents with a preloaded knowledge base for data analysis, rather than the current one-shot approach where files must be uploaded each time. This feature would allow you to use the power of the Analysis Tool agent for customized business data analysis without using custom third-party software such as data analysis. The reason Analyst isn’t available as a template is because Microsoft designed it as a built-in tool where you attach files each time, rather than a customizable agent like the other templates you mentioned. It’s just set up differently and isn’t part of the Agent Builder template catalog.

that might help you:

Create a regular agent in Agent Builder and add your business data as knowledge sources, you can connect SharePoint sites, upload files, or link folders. That way your agent already has access to your data without uploading files every time.
If you need more control over how it uses that data, Copilot Studio gives you better options for grounding the responses in your specific knowledge base.
Not exactly the same as having Analyst as a template, but it should get you pretty close to what you arelooking for.

Hi @Valantis, Thank you for your feedback. It's clear that Analyst isn't part of the Agent Builder template catalog. We wanted to see if it would be included in the development plan to make it more useful and usable than the current "trifled" version, thus avoiding third-party software. As for the recommendation to create a standard agent in Agent Builder with KB, I've already tried it several times, but it's not great. It's nowhere near Analyst (which was certainly developed and trained as a data scientist), and it always makes a lot of mistakes. I hope the Microsoft development team considers this feature in the development roadmap.

I appreciate you sharing that you've already tried the Agent Builder approach and found it lacking.
