Hi,
When drawing data, what are the pro's and con's of using excel or sharepoint lists?
Do you have a preference for either??
I use excel, based on the large amount of data I have to draw in.

The differences are vast and the reasons for using one over the other, depend on what you plan to do, more than those differences.
It is easier to read, update, filter and pretty much do anything in SharePoint than an Excel file, and it supports better scale by far.
But if you have a small app, with little data changes, then Excel is fine. Personally I do not default to Excel unless its a small app.
