Problems with Multiselect Combo Box People Person Picker saving to sharepoint list

I have a sharepoint list that contains a people picker column that is set up to allow users to search for then select multiple people in the company. Multiselect and people/group selection is on.

I also have a power app connected to this sharepoint list. I have a form control that allows users to create a new record in this list. However, the combo box control for the column described above, in the form (which is set to New) has various issues when attempting to allow users to select multiple people.

1. I changed the Items property to allow users to search for people across the company by setting it to the below. This works as intended:
Office365Users.SearchUser({ searchTerm: DataCardValue49.SearchText })

2. once I make my first people selection by checking the person based on the result of the search, I then need to search for the second, third, etc person. In order to do so, I clear my current search and type in the name of the next person.

3. the search works as intended and the results are shown, however my previous selection is now unchecked, and not visible. Additionally, when going to submit the form, only the latest search and checked person is saved to the sharepoint list.

Has anyone also been in this scenario and if so how did you overcome this issue?

Modern Combo Box I assume - try a Classic item - it works as expected. Also what is the Update of the Data Card ?
