Hi all,
I have list of files in my gallery control.
My requirement is, if we select one file then it need to open adobe acrobat reader to read the content in my file.
Can anyone help me to achieve this?
Thanks in advance,
with regards,
User237.
Hi @User237 ,
Assuming your gallery is based on a SharePoint Library, you can use (from the Gallery Item)
Launch('Link to item')
Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.
hi @WarrenBelz ,
Thanks for your reply,
I have tried with "Launch" in one of the button onSelect property in my gallery.
I have passed the url of the browser like Lunch("URL of application,here i used adobe reader");
It is opening the application. can we open the file at the same time?
suppose in my gallery, i have files with names "Sales-001", "Sales-002","Sales-003".
Can i open this files directly in the adobe reader?

I just tested one here on a gallery with the Items as a SharePoint Library including some PDFs. I used
Launch(ThisItem.'Link to item')
on the OnSelect of the gallery and it opened every file (as well as some Word and Excel files).
Just checking if you got the result you were looking for on this thread. Happy to help further if not.
@WarrenBelz I have a similar question... I am building an onboarding process for my company . when we have a new employee starting I have a flow that copies my onboarding documents to a specific folder that i can now access in my power app. Most are fillable PDF docs like a Direct Deposit form or a I-9 tax form. Launch() opens these into a web browser and you can fill it out BUT can not save back to the folder. So my goal is to have power apps launch the Adobe Reader on the PC and open the file I want it to -> let the employee fill it out --> select save and move on is this possible
@marcgiag ,
Rather different question actually - Launching is the easy part, but saving back (a new copy as it will have data) is not.
You would be better using MS forms and a Flow to send the data to SharePoint.
Hi @WarrenBelz!
I tried Launch(ThisItem.AbsoluteUri) should it be a different link for it to open on Adobe Acrobat desktop?
Thanks in advance!
@jaanihsm ,
My experience with Launch(Application) from a SharePoint stored file is that it only works with MS products (Word/Excel etc) and you also need your SP LIbrary settings to reflect this requirment.
Looks like Adobe plug-in for SharePoint needs to be enabled for it to open on browser with full functionality from Adobe. Thanks @WarrenBelz!
Sorry, I forgot to mention I am working with SharePoint list attachments, not SharePoint library. Does that make a difference? I don't see any setting in List Settings to open attachments in client app. Is there a workaround? Thank you again!
