Bot not using ASPX pages

I have created my first bot in copilot studio pointed at our Sharepoint. It seems to answer questions contained in documents very well but it doesn't seem to be using our ASPX pages to answer questions (we have a wiki so there is lots of valuable information in the ASPX pages).

One of our ASPX pages on Sharepoint is a terms to know page. If I ask my PVA "What is a Wan"? It can't answer.

If I take that ASPX page, put it in Word, and upload it as a Generative AI source in Copilot Studio it answers the question without an issue.

It seems that Copilot Studio is not reading our ASPX pages but is reading all documents in our SharePoint. Any idea how to get this working with ASPX pages?

I searched and reviewed previous posts and this used to be an issue with the feature in beta but those users now report that their bots are using ASPX pages now. I still can't seem to get it to work. I know it has the right permissions as I can get answers from files in SharePoint just not ASPX pages.

What kind of pages are those? AFAIK Graph API will only return results for modern pages

We are having this same issue, I found this article that indicates aspx pages are not supported for generative answers.  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/nlu-boost-conversations#generative-answers-as-a-fallback

I was curious what others were doing or if this was something Microsoft is planning on supporting in the near future.

This looks like a wording issue, as modern pages (that also bear the .aspx extension) are used by Generative Answers. I'll see if we can change the wording.

I see that this is also listed in another part of your documentation, and we are still consistently in testing not being able to generate answers for content from an aspx page.

It should be possible as long as it's a modern page. Can you share an example for something that isn't working?

I'm facing the same issue of not being able to return data from SharePoint .aspx pages. Everything that we have is in modern SharePoint and this is content from a site that was created within the last month. Questions about anything in the documents get answered but every answer that would come from content on a page is met with the response of "I'm sorry I'm not sure how to help with that. Can you try rephrasing?"

@adilei I can confirm that we have updated to modern pages and we still are not getting answers from these pages.

If I take the content from Our Terms To Know page and copy and paste it into a Word document, it can answer the question "What is a firewall?" without issue. The citation in the answers points back to "Terms To Know.docx" which is just a straight copy/paste from the "Terms To Know.aspx" (modern) page.

Once I remove the "Terms To Know.docx" as a source and restart the chat the exact same question goes unanswered.

I do have our SharePoint site configured to be used by the bot (I just masked our address in the screenshot below) but it is pointing to the SharePoint site that hosts the "Terms To Know.aspx" page.

This appears to be a bug with CoPilot studio still not being able to use ASPX pages properly even when they are modern pages.

I ran some tests with modern pages that were successful. Can you verify whether the page comes up for your query via graph explorer?

One more thing: if the page does come up in graph explorer, but not in Gen Answers, can you verify its layout type?  You can use: https://pnp.github.io/powershell/cmdlets/Get-PnPPage.html

It does not come up in the first 3 pages returned in graph explorer but other pages made from the same template do. I am not sure why when it's an aspx the contents from it are not used to answer the question but when it's a Word Document the same content is used to answer the question. And it is definitely the page where the answer would be the other pages returned don't seem nearly as relevant to answering the question.
