Wanting advice on Exporting and Importing a Canvas Powerapp

@WarrenBelz @RandyHayes I have an app that I have been working on for 9 months or so and it has nearly 1500 versions assigned to it. I had a few problems with performance where some variables stopped working and I had many unused variables.

I saved the app as BobTest and then went about fixing the variables and other problems I had in the app and it is now working much much better.  The URL for the app has already been sent to a group of users for testing and I would like to try and keep the same URL.

What I would like to do now is do a Save As the original named app thus overwriting it with my changes and I believe the only way to do this is by exporting BobTest and then importing that package into the original app.

Does anyone have experience with this process as I CANNOT lose the functionality in my original app. I have a few Flows associated with the app - will I have to re-create them?

I guess I am looking for re-assurance that I won't lose all my hard work so I want to be sure that the process I follow is going to work 1st time. thanks for any help and guidance on this one 🙂

    Hi @bobgodin ,

If you export your Test app as a Package and the import to your Prod version, you will not lose any version history (it will be the versions of the Prod App), however your test version will then become the "current" version of the app - there is no "combining" function if that is what you are referring to. The URL will be that of the Prod App.
If you have connected the Flows to your Test version (Save As will do this), they will continue to function as they did before. If however you have done any changes to your Prod app since you saved the test version, you will lose those in the current new version.

@WarrenBelz thank you so much Warren - one more related question: how do I get rid of 1499 versions of my Prod  app without deleting individually?

    Hi @bobgodin ,

Depends how many you want to keep. If it is a small number, you could restore then export each one you want to retain, then starting at the oldest one use that as the base and import the next newest until the newest is last - your history will be the ones restored, however the URL will change to the first restored.

If you want to keep the same URL, a lot of clicks . . .
