Need help with requisites for building flow (with AI Builder) for external client

Good morning.  We are an MS partner and we have a client that wants us to build a flow that will incorporate the Form Processing.  Since I am an external user to their AAD, I would like some help on what I need to ask for from their IT folks.  I've only set this up internally before and would like to request exactly what I need from the start.  Here is what I think I need or questions I have:

1.  A user on their tenant (not sure if they can add me as a AAD guest user???)

2.  They will need to assign me a Power Automate License

3.  If they purchased the AI Builder licensing as well, will they need to apply that to my user?  Or is that org wide?

4.  Do they need to create the CDS or is that generated automatically or is that something I can do once I have the license?

5.  Regarding the CDS, if they create it, do they need to add me as an admin to it or some other role?

Any other suggestions on what I need to request from my client to get started building the flow using AI builder would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Thank you!

    Hi @ford_wilkinson,

    Thanks for the questions.

    1.  A user on their tenant (not sure if they can add me as a AAD guest user???)

Correct, they will need to setup a user for you on their tenant. AAD guest user won't be enough, as you won't be able to access the Power Automate/AI Builder authoring portals as a guest user.

    2.  They will need to assign me a Power Automate License

Correct, any of the Power Automate licenses: Pricing | Microsoft Power Automate

    3.  If they purchased the AI Builder licensing as well, will they need to apply that to my user?  Or is that org wide?

It's org wide. AI Builder is purchased as an add-on. Each add-on gives 1 million credits that are pooled at the tenant level. Then credits need to be assigned by an admin into the environment where the AI Builder models are located. More info: AI Builder Licensing - AI Builder | Microsoft Docs

    4.  Do they need to create the CDS or is that generated automatically or is that something I can do once I have the license?

You will need an environment in Power Automate, and that environment needs to be created with CDS (now called Dataverse). In that environment is where you will create the AI Builder models, and flows that will use those models. More info: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/create-environment#create-an-environment-with-a-database

    5.  Regarding the CDS, if they create it, do they need to add me as an admin to it or some other role?

Your user in Dataverse will need to have at least the 'Environment Maker' role to be able to create AI Builder models.

I hope this helps! Best of luck in this new project and feel free to ask any additional question if we can help for the success of the project! 🙂
