Radio button to filter dropdown choices

Hi

I am new to designing an app and is building an app to monitor trailers moving from site to site.

I have a list of trailer names and then a column called status

Site A - Bay 1

Site A - Bay 2

Sita A- Bay 3

Site B - Bay 1

Site B - Bay 2

Site B - Bay 3

Site A - Yard

Site B - Yard

Transfer from Site A to B

In the drop down I can have either of these options but I have alot more sites and alot more transfer status's

What I want is a radio box to filter these choices for a combo box

My combobox currently recalls the current record, so if the trailer is already on Site A - Bay 1 is should remain that.

Also I need to ensure that if a trailer is on a bay then also another trailer can't be put on the same bay but for any Yard or transfer status's this is okay to have more than one.

    Hi @moosebot88

    1. You have to use the Dependent dropdown concept. I recommend referring to MS Article
    2. Make sure reset control when a dropdown changes

So I have read the article, I am unable to split the status into two columns due to a status being "Transfer from Site A to Site B" status but could add another column called site in the table where the status's are held.

Could I then use a lookup to find all the status in column which match the site in another column.

That's a good idea to have another column and will be used to filter data easily.

I've set the first drop down box as

    Distinct(tbStatus,site)

I just don't know how to reference the 2nd dropdown to see the first dropdown and lookup and also to load this as what is currently selected for the first dropdown.

    Hi @moosebot88

Set the 2nd Dropdown items property to

    Filter(tbStatus, status = Dropdown1.Selected.Result).ColumnName

To understand better, I have taken the MS example which is location and department

    StalinPonnusamy_1-1632340361257.png

    Dropdown1 (LocationDropdown) items property to

    Distinct(Locations,Location)

2nd Dropdown (DepartmentDropdwon) items property to

    Filter(Locations, Location = LocationDropdown.Selected.Result).Department

Few other things based on my data source (Please update yours)

    • Set the Update property of the Datacard
      • Location --> LocationDropdown.Selected.Result
      • Department --> DepartmentDropdown.Selected.Department
    • AllowEmptySelection - True
    • Set OnChange property of Location to Reset(DepartmentDropdown)

    Hi,

The second dropdown doesn't populate any details

My second dropdown box items property currently is

    Filter(tbStatus, status = Dropdown1.Selected.Result).status

my first dropdown box is called Dropbox1, the second one called DataCardValue16

it should populate the data from my tbStatus table which has two columns

    status,site

    site a bay 1, site a

    site a bay 2, site a

    site b bay 1, site b

This should then update my table called tbMain with a column also called status.

Probably confused myself aswell as you. Thank you for your help, I feel like I am nearly there.

I have it working except what would I put so it shows on the form what is currently selected?

I know I have to change the default property.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi @moosebot88

Set the default property of Dropdown to

    Parent.Default

    StalinPonnusamy_0-1632433988399.png

Make sure to set Update property Datacard for form save

    Site -->

    Dropdown1.Selected.Result

     For Status

    Dropdowns.Selected.status

    Example (Showing Update property)

I am only updating one datacard as only updating one field in my main table. So I think the issue is with the first dropdown box looking at site.
