It's possible to deploy a custom agent to outlook

I have created a custom agent from Copilot Studio and published the same to Teams and M365. The agent is available in teams and M365 as well.

It's possible to add the same agent to outlook app copilot sidecar as well?

If yes, please let me know how we can achieve that?
I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Subra,

You can find your agent via the + sign in Copilot in Outlook. Under All Agents.
Or you can @ mention your agent in a chat in the Copilot panel.

    Regards,
    Arild

    Hi @Subra

Here are the steps using which you can add the same custom agent you created in Copilot Studio to the Outlook app Copilot sidecar, but it requires specific steps to enable that channel.

    1. Publish your custom agent from Copilot Studio to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
    2. Use the Microsoft 365 admin center Copilot Control System to approve and assign the agent to users or groups.
    3. Once assigned, the agent becomes available in supported Microsoft 365 Copilot experiences, including the Outlook app Copilot sidecar (as shown by Arild Aarnes).

I am sure some clues I tried to give. If these clues help to resolve the issue brought you by here, please don't forget to check the box Does this answer your question? At the same time, I am pretty sure you have liked the response!

    Hi @Subra,

I am suspecting something if Microsoft 365 Copilot in Outlook supports only built-in and declarative (Copilot-native) agents. Custom agents created and published via Copilot Studio—even if they appear and work in Teams, Microsoft 365 Copilot app, or other Microsoft 365 apps— probably do not yet appear or function in the Outlook Copilot sidecar.

This is somethin,g probably the Outlook Copilot experience is currently restricted to Microsoft-provided agents and declarative agents built with Agent Builder or native extensibility frameworks.

[What kinds of agents are available for Microsoft 365?]

    Hi Haque,

When we try to add a channel from Co-pilot studio, I can see the below one and it's indicating it's should be availble in Outlook as well.

    Hi @Arild Aarnes @Haque

Kindly let me know is there anything I need to check to make the agent availble in outlook copilot sidecar and I'm able to access all the built in agent in outlook sidecar.

    Hi @Subra,

The message you see in Copilot Studio about publishing agents to the Agent Store and making them available in Microsoft 365 apps—including Outlook—reflects the intended integration vision: agents published to the Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store can be discoverable and usable across multiple Microsoft 365 apps such as Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

However, in practice, the availability of a custom Copilot Studio agent in Outlook’s Copilot sidecar depends on several factors:

    1. Publishing to Microsoft 365 Copilot Agent Store:  You must publish your agent to the Agent Store and explicitly enable the option “Make agent available in Microsoft 365 Copilot” in Copilot Studio. This makes the agent discoverable across Microsoft 365 apps.
    2. Tenant and Admin Configuration: The Microsoft 365 admin center controls which agents are approved and assigned to users or groups. The agent must be approved and assigned to the users who will access it in Outlook.
    3. App Support and Rollout Status:  While the Agent Store and Microsoft 365 Copilot integration aim to support Outlook, the actual rollout and support for custom agents in Outlook’s Copilot sidecar may be limited or phased. Some tenants or regions might not yet see the agent in Outlook even if it’s published and assigned.
    4. User Experience Differences:  The agent may appear and work in Teams and the Microsoft 365 Copilot app before it becomes available in Outlook, due to differences in app integration timelines and capabilities.

    How to Proceed

    • Confirm your agent is published to the Agent Store with the “Make agent available in Microsoft 365 Copilot” option checked.

    • Verify in the Microsoft 365 admin center that the agent is approved and assigned to the relevant users.

    • Check Microsoft’s official documentation or message center for any announcements about Outlook Copilot sidecar support for custom agents.

    • If the agent is not visible in Outlook, it may be due to the current rollout status or tenant-specific limitations.
