Tab Index skipping date field in form: Accessibility using Jaws/Zoom Tech

Hi All,

I am currently working on Accessibility for my app, specifically jaws and zoom tech.

I have the tab index for all the displaying data card values to 1.

When I use Jaws (Audio specific tool) it naturally jumps through to each perfectly but skips the date field card.

I can't for the life of me work out why it would skip this one field but show all the others, I only have one Date field within this list, they are all view only - every other set of content comes through, I would love to know if anyone has a solution for this?

    Hi @Tia ,

Thanks for your feedback. Just as I mentioned in previous reply, I afraid that the Jaws tool has not been compatible completely within PowerApps app.

If you would like this feature to be added, please consider submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

If you want to get further help in this issue, please consider submit an assisted support ticket through the following link:

Re: Tab Index skipping date field in form: Accessibility using Jaws/Zoom Tech

Jaws is the primary system for visually impaired people to be able to navigate within a computer in Australia.

A person who is visually impaired will not know where to click and in the form, it skips the date field every time.

To get around this I created a label that displayed the data in text format and placed it within the datacard behind the value element, this was then picked up fine. I am not sure why it was not working as desired but I think it should be highlighted that PowerApps is not currently having full functionality with a software built solely for accessibility.

The Tab index is the one within the property settings within Powerapps

Setting the items to be utilized from -1 to 0,1,2

Jaws can then use these fields to navigate the app, however completely skips date fields even when set to above 0.

How do I raise this as a problem?

    Hi @Tia ,

Do you mean that the Tab Index functionality skip the Date field data card in your Edit form?

Do you use third-party tool to do the "Tab Index" operation?

Based on the issue that you mentioned, I have made a test on my side (using "Tab" hot key in my keyboard), and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

According to the issue that you mentioned, I think this issue is related to your Jaws/Zoom Tech Tool. Currently, if you want to do some "Tab Index" operation in your canvas app, please use the supported Keyboard shortcuts in canvas app:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/keyboard-shortcuts

The third-party tool may not be compatible with canvas app. Please consider use Keyboard to achieve your "Tab" switch operation. If you would like the Jaws/Zoom Tech tool could be compatible with canvas app, please consider submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

    Best regards,
