Data Tab Has Disappeared

Good morning,

We have noticed that on some of our older apps the data tab button under tree view on the left hand side has gone. I have has a search on the forum and all I could find was to switch this slider on:

However it won't let me do this I get the following message:

Where can I find the switch it is saying I need to turn on first and will it effect anything? The reason it's so important is so we can find the SharePoint pages they are connected to.

Any help greatly appreciated 🙂

Thanks,

Edd

    Hi @Edd-Keogh

A save and publish might fix the issue, as reported in this post.

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/General-settings-for-app-bug/td-p/1377273

If you don't want to republish, I suspect that exporting and importing into a new app may reveal the data panel.

Thank you very much for your reply @timl, unfortunately save and republish hasn't worked, I will need to speak to IT about export as it blocks the download. I will update as soon as I have been able to try this.

    Hi @Edd-Keogh

I've recreated this issue and I've reported this as a bug here.

    https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Ideas/Fix-the-bug-where-the-left-hand-data-panel-doesn-t-always-appear/idi-p/1872345#M37552

If anyone else experiences this problem, perhaps you could vote on this if you would like to see it fixed.

In the meantime, I've been able to work around the problem by clicking the 'add data' button and adding a random new data source. This seems to reveal the view that shows the existing connections in the apps.

    Hi @timl

Thank you very much, yes that is the only work around we have managed to find, not ideal but it works!

    Thanks,

I don't seem to be able to vote, but did want to let you know that I'm experiencing the same issue. I do very little work in Power Apps but occasionally do work that involves testing and is dependent on switching between two SharePoint lists to essentially do regression testing. Without the data panel, this is a real challenge.

    @timl

Good news! I have been given a fix for this so thought I would share!

When editing the app, you have to go to ‘Settings’ and then turn on the following 3 options in this order, and then save and publish the app:

    1. Turn on 'Relational data, option sets, and other new features for Microsoft Dataverse'

    2. Turn on 'Use column display names'

    3. Turn on 'Improve data source experience and Microsoft Dataverse views'

Every time I have done this so far it has worked!

    Thanks,

Thanks @Edd-Keogh for sharing that. I'm sure it'll help others as those 3 settings are pretty unintuitive!

Thank you @Edd-Keogh !! This worked for me. I am building an app from a template (the interview feedback one) and data tab was missing and driving me crazy. Turning on these three options worked to fix it. 🙂

    hi,

in January 2024 some of these options disappeared, so this doesn't work any longer.

This post solved the problem for me:
